There may be new evidence of a mysterious 'Planet X' hiding beyond Pluto

Humans have explored only a tiny, tiny fraction of the universe, so we can't rule out the possibility objects exist out there that we haven't seen yet - even giant planets right in our backyard.
You can divvy up the Solar System into four parts: the inner rocky planets, the Asteroid Belt, the gas giants, and a huge cluster of small icy bodies called the Kuiper Belt. Some of those icy chunks in the Kuiper Belt are big enough to count as dwarf planets (like Pluto and Eris).

Now scientists think something bigger - perhaps four times bigger than Earth - is lurking out there, just beyond the Kuiper Belt.

"I think there are definitely things out there bigger than Pluto that are yet to be discovered," Scott Sheppard, an astronomer at the Carnegie Institution, told the Washington Post.

Sheppard worked on a paper published in the journal Nature in 2014 that describes the discovery a mystery object on the fringe of the Kuiper Belt. The astronomers nicknamed it "Biden." It's no bigger than a dwarf planet, and they estimate that it's three times the distance that Pluto is from Earth, or roughly 9 billion miles away.

In fact, there's evidence that quite a few of these mystery objects, none of them larger than a dwarf planet, drifting at the fringes of the Kuiper Belt, according to the paper. And they aren't just randomly floating around out there: They all appear to follow a similar orbital pattern, albeit a really strange one.

This means it's possible some especially large, really distant planet - called a "perturber" in Sheppard's study - is massive enough that its gravity can tug Biden and the other mystery objects into a similar path through space. Unlike Biden, the "perturber" could be four times the size of Earth.

If this giant "Planet X" exists, we probably haven't spotted it because it's so far away. At such a great distance it would appear 200 times fainter than the Sun appears from Earth. Or there might be some entirely different explanation for why those mystery objects appear to have the same orbital pattern. The bottom line is that the researchers don't know enough yet.

The researchers based their observations on only 12 of these outer Kuiper Belt objects, and the orbital pattern they appear to follow might vanish with future observations. In other words, it might just be a coincidence they all seem to follow a similar path.

Since Sheppard first announced distant objects in 2014, however, he's found more - and they, too, follow the same pattern. So that's more evidence that "Planet X" does exist. Of course we won't know for sure until someone spots it, but right now it seems like the most plausible explanation.

"There is a not insignificant chance that there are Earth-mass or larger objects yet to be discovered in the outer solar system," Mike Brown, the astronomer who discovered dwarf planet Eris, told the Washington Post.

'Planet X' update: The search for the 'Lost Planet' continues as New Horizons probe explores Kuiper belt

Undiscovered and highly controversial among scientists and people who have heard of the "lost planet," Planet X continues to be a mystery, but some scientists have recently expressed their desire to search for the "comet planet."

According to the Center for Research on Globalization, astronomer from Chile Carlos Munoz Ferrada predicted way back in 1940 that certain "powers" would cover up the effects of Planet X on earth. In what seems to be reality of his Ferrada's prediction, researcher-author Zecharia Sitchin noted in his best-selling book "The 12th Planet," that Nibiru, more famously called as Planet X, will reenter the solar system where Earth is located and will cause chaos as giant space debris from an asteroid belt will crash into man's habitat.

Although numerous outlets say NASA has kept the lid on details about Nibiru, a conspiracy theorist using the online name Lyn Leahz says scientific researchers have confirmed that a 2.5-mile-wide asteroid will head toward Earth between September 15 and September 28. Some researchers have linked Leahz's claims to Planet X.

The Washington Post first featured potential catastrophic implications of Planet X on Earth way back 1983. According to the report, NASA discovered that the mysterious planet was "possibly as large as Jupiter."

Another document sponsored by the Department of Defense was released in October 2003, stating that a serious disruption of the Atlantic conveyor belt would result to a devastating impact on global climate.

Sitchin has previously stated in his book that Planet X's entrance into the Earth's solar system will perturb the system's orbit, linking the previous observations on Uranus and Neptune's "wobbles."

The researcher used Sumerian clay tablets to come up with the conclusion that Nibiru comes close to Earth every 3,600 years, and as it comes closer, various effects on earth occur including huge earthquakes, landslides, hurricanes, storms, and the widely popular issue of global warming.

The New Horizons probe, which is focusing its exploration on the Kuiper belt where Nibiru is rumored to be at the moment, has recently expressed its plans to study the possible existence and location of the alleged planet that roams the solar system, and is waiting for the perfect time to come closest to Earth to cause global chaos.

There is evidence of an ongoing resurgence of the Planet X (also known as Nibiru) cataclysm conspiracy theory following the publication of new scientific studies in 2014 claiming evidence of a mysterious unnamed planet lurking beyond Pluto. The scientific claims were based on observations of gravitational influences on a group of space bodies termed the “extreme trans-Neptunian objects” (ETNOs) orbiting our Sun beyond the planet Neptune.

A slew of messages and YouTube videos currently being circulated in the conspiracy theory blogosphere claims that a NASA study published in 1988 revealed details about the mysterious Planet X/Nibiru with an estimated orbital period of more than 1,000 years.

The study, according to conspiracy theorists, demonstrates that NASA and the U.S. government have been aware for decades that the rogue Planet X is coming with catastrophic consequences for humanity.

According to conspiracy theorists, recently leaked secret NASA “Planet X” files reveal that the agency is aware that the gravitational influence of Planet X had disrupted the orbits of other planets during a previous passage into the inner solar system hundreds of years ago; and that the next disruptive passage into the inner solar system is imminent.

The approach of the mysterious Planet X is currently sending waves of charged “plasmatic energy particles” through our solar system. The flow of energy will finally disrupt the “core flows” of the Earth and trigger catastrophic changes in Earth’s climate.

We have been feeling the disruptive effects of the inbound rogue Planet X since 1996 in the form of increased seismic and volcanic activities, freak weather patterns, and natural disasters.

NASA, the Pentagon, and the CIA are aware of the approaching rogue planet. The Vatican has also been briefed, but the public is being kept in the dark about the impending apocalypse. But despite efforts to keep the information secret, there have been leaks.

The comprehensive report submitted to the White House estimates that about two-thirds of humanity will be wiped out when Planet X induces a pole-shift. Two-thirds of survivors will perish over another six months due to starvation and exposure to the elements.

Although some conspiracy theorists insist that the Planet X mentioned in the NASA files is not linked with Zecharia Sitchin’s planet Nibiru — the alleged planet of the alien Anunnaki that makes a close approach to Earth as it passes through the inner solar system on its orbital path once every 3,600 years — many conspiracy theorists insist that that NASA’s “Planet X” is Nibiru.

But it is uncertain whether the Planet X mentioned in the purported NASA files is the same as the Planet X that scientific researchers announced in 2014 that they have evidence is lurking in the fringes of our solar system beyond Pluto.

According to the research study titled “Extreme trans-Neptunian objects and the Kozai mechanism: signaling the presence of trans-Plutonian planets,” published in June of 2014 in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society Letters, there are at least two planets — part of our solar system — larger than Earth, lurking out there beyond Pluto, and whose presence can be detected through their gravitational influences.

The team of scientists, led by Professor Carlos de la Fuente Marcos, at the Complutense University of Madrid, said that observations of the behavior of the ETNOs objects beyond Neptune reveal the gravitational influence of massive astronomical objects beyond Pluto.

According to the emerging conspiracy theory, NASA embarked on the New Horizons project two years after the 1988 publication revealed the existence of Planet X. The final destination of New Horizons is Planet X, but to prevent mass panic, NASA pretended that the destination of the space probe is Pluto and the Kuiper belt.

In the 1990s, the agency pretended it had abandoned the search for Planet X by leaking false information that the latest measurements by Voyager 2 proved that Planet X does not exist. According to NASA at the time, measurements taken by Voyager 2 showed that the alleged irregularities in the orbits of Uranus and Neptune which led to the Planet X hypothesis were due to overestimation of the mass of Neptune.

But according to conspiracy theorists, the claim by NASA scientists was a deliberate ruse to cover-up the actual destination of New Horizons beyond Pluto and the Kuiper belt – Planet X.

NASA knows that Planet X is real and that Armageddon is near, according to conspiracy theorists.

In a previous report, the Inquisitr traced the origin of the Planet X controversy in the astronomical sciences to the late 19th century. Following the discovery of Neptune, astronomer Percival Lowell proposed the Planet X hypothesis to explain certain irregularities in the orbits of the outer giant planets.

The discovery of Pluto in 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh, led some astronomers to announce that Planet X had been found. But by 1978, scientists had realized that Pluto was too small to account for the observed influences on Uranus and Neptune. This led to resumption of the search for the mysterious Planet X, believed to be larger than Earth.

The conviction that a planet larger than Earth lurks beyond Pluto was strengthened by the work of Chadwick Trujillo and Scott Sheppard, who, in March of 2014, announced discovery of the dwarf planet 2012 VP113, believed to be part of the inner Oort Cloud.

The scientists pointed out that 2012 VP113’s orbital behavior suggests it is under the gravitational influence of a massive undetected planet in the fringes of our solar system.

The researchers suggested that Planet X is likely ten times more massive than Earth and probably lies about 250 AU from our Sun.

Researchers unveil discovery of seemingly a dwarf planet

Out of around 1,500 icy bodies found till date in the Kuiper Belt, a few of them are big enough to be known as dwarf planets. Lately, a research paper has said that there is a possibility of a massive outer Solar System perturber. In fact, researchers have reported discovery of a dwarf planet, dubbed 2012 VP113, nicknamed Biden.

The planet is around three times far away from the sun than is Pluto. Astronomers have noticed that there are number of large, very remote objects that share a similar orbital angle. As per astronomers, main orbital feature is known as 'argument of perihelion'.

Scott Sheppard, an astronomer with the Carnegie Institution of Washington, said, "The argument of perihelion is the angle at which an object comes to perihelion with respect to the ecliptic plane".

Scott has also explained the concept of the 'disturber'. He said that a giant object or great disturber will disturb anything that approaches it. Therefore, the objects that maintain a distance from the great disturber will be considered as the most stable objects.

Researchers have even discussed about the present of a big planet, known as Planet X. One cannot see it directly, as it very far away and faint in appearance. It could be at least 200 Astronomical Units from the sun. Experts think that the solar system has not been completely explored.

There is Planet X after Pluto in Kuiper Belt, say Astronomers

After NASA’s spectacular fly-by of Pluto on July 14 with the New Horizons mission, the probe is set on another mission — to discover the mysterious Planet X in the Kuiper Belt. While the probe is being sent to investigate, it is basically a large icy rock, about the size of the district of Columbia.

Scott Sheppard, an astronomer at the Carnegie Institute of Washington said that astronomers have so far detected about 1,500  icy bodies in the Kuiper Belt, and a few of them are big enough to classify them as dwarf planets. However, some believe that planets larger than the Earth, and gas giants like Neptune could be out in the Kuiper Belt. Astronomers have found hints that the hidden planet could be larger than Pluto or even larger than the Earth.

“I think there definitely bigger things out there bigger than Pluto that are yet to be discovered,” said Sheppard.

However, astronomers are not the only ones proposing the existence of Planet X. Sheppard and Chad Trujillo of the Gemini Observatory, published a report in the journal Nature in 2014, indicating that there could be “pertuber,” or a large gravitationally disturbing object in the edges of the Solar System. Since then, the mysterious planet has become a “holy grail” for astronomers. However, the planet does not produce its own light, and its search has been difficult. But, gravitational signatures suggest that the planet does exist.

The planet follows a key orbital feature known as “argument of perihelion.” Sheppard said that the argument of perihelion is the angle at which an object comes to perihelion with respect to ecliptic plane. Mike Brown, a Caltech astronomer who discovered the dwarf planet Eris said that Scott’s claim is that all of these objects come to perihelion at the ecliptic, and all are going from below the same plane to above the plane at perihelion.

Planet X May Be Real and Could Account For Observations

NASA flew by Pluto on July 14 and sent back spectacular images, and will continue to send back data over the next few months. But now that New Horizons has gone past Pluto’s orbit and heads for the Kuiper Belt, which it will reach in 2019, it will take a close glimpse at an interesting object that is essentially a big chunk of icy rock, according to a Washington Post report.

A total of 1,500 icy bodies have been detected in the Kuiper Belt, with a few of them large enough to qualify as a “dwarf planet.” But there might be a much bigger object out there, one that is even bigger than Earth and could rival the size of Neptune, according to the report.

A 2014 report in the journal Nature from the Gemini Observatory in Hawaii indicated that a massive Solar System “perturber” may lurk somewhere out there. They called it a dwarf planet and named it 2012 VP113, and it is way out there — about three times farther from the sun than distant Pluto is, and even out past the Kuiper Belt.

It’s tough to see Planet X because it’s way out there and quite faint. Because it’s about 200 Astronomical Units from the sun — the Earth is one Astronomical Unit — it doesn’t get much sunlight, and therefore it’s tough for astronomers to pick it up. Stars are much easier to study even at great distances because they emit their own light.

Scientists were studying the impact of gravitation on the “extreme trans-Neptunian objects” (ETNOs), which are a group of space bodies, while orbiting our Solar System beyond the planet Neptune.

As per the emerging conspiracy theory, NASA’s New Horizons mission commenced in 1990 with its Pluto 350 which is approximately two years after the 1988 publication that revealed existence of Planet X. Now, New Horizon’s final destination is Planet X; however it has not revealed this publicly and pretended that the final destination of their space craft would be Pluto and the Kuiper belt.

In 1990s, NASA leaked fake information that as per the latest measurements by Voyager 2, Planet X does not exist and hence it pretended to have stopped the search for Planet X. However, the truth is that measurements taken by Voyager 2 had shown purported irregularities in the orbits of Uranus which was believed to be due to slight overestimation of Neptune’s mass and hence Planet X was thought to be just an assumption and not a reality.

According to conspiracy theorists, the Planet X hypothesis was just a game plan of NASA scientists to cover up the actual destination of New Horizons beyond Pluto and the Kuiper Belt -Planet X.

It was in March 2014, when Chadwick Trujillo and Scott Sheppard, announced the discovery of the dwarf planet 2012 VP113, which is believed to be part of the inner Oort Cloud and this work was a proof that a planet larger than Earth ‘does’ lurk beyond Pluto.

The orbital behavior of  dwarf planet 2012 VP113 clearly suggested that it was under the gravitational influence of a massive planet that is lurking in the fringes of our Solar system.

Scientists now believe that there is some anonymous mysterious Planet X lurking in the fringes of our Solar system which could probably be ten times bigger than Earth and could be lying about 250 AU from our Sun.
